Local duo Locnville have done it all. They’ve won a South African Music Award, toured the country, have a strong local fan-base, sold thousands of albums and have recorded a number of smash hit singles. Brian and Andrew Chaplin recently moved to America to work on some music, joined Warner Music South Africa and they have finally released their comeback single, Grapevine, which features American vocalist Sabi.
The track sees Locnville move away from their dance-focused music such as PopYaLikeA and Closer to a more melodic style. The track is an amalgamation of their older material and current music trends and it’s the perfect comeback for the boys. The production, as with every Locnville track, is banging and the way the song was put together is really fantastic. The chorus is catchy and will leave you with a guaranteed earworm. Sabi also adds a great dynamic to the song. The singer has a lovely voice and her talent saw her collaborating with Britney Spears on a song called ‘Drop Dead) Beautiful off her Femme Fatale album.
The song serves as the perfect introduction to Locnville’s new chapter. We love the direction they’re heading and think that this single and this upcoming album, which is due for release around the end of May, will be one of the duo’s career highlights. Remember to support local music and download the track off iTunes.
