Josh Wantie is certainly making a name for himself in the local pop space. He pushed boundaries with the dark production on his previous single ‘Romeo’ and now, he’s teamed up with Wax Beach – an electronic music production duo from Cape Town for his breezy new single ‘One More Night’.
Again, Josh experiments with various sonic elements while staying within the blend of pop and dance fans have become accustomed to. The song is about a broken relationship. In the song, Josh begs a girl to give him one more chance to make it up to her. While the topic is generic, so many of us have regrets in past relationships and it’s a feeling many can identify with. The universal theme paired with a slick production and a fantastic vocal performance from Josh makes ‘One More Night’ an exciting single.
Josh explains that the collaboration came together rather organically after Jamie Christensen and Tiaan du Toit from Wax Beach reached out to him on social media. “Social media is a powerful tool and awesome way to engage with supporters and other people in the industry. After the guys go in touch with me other Twitter, I had a listen to some of their stuff and we met up for a drink. They played me a demo and I loved it,” Josh explains. “We began work on a track shortly after this and it took shape pretty quickly. I really love how easily some tracks come together, so this was one of those really natural and unforced collaborations that I love. I’m sure we will continue working together in the future and you can definitely expect there to be some appearances at live shows.”
Wax Beach add that “Our collaboration with Josh went very smoothly. We loved the very first vocal ideas Josh pitched and worked closely with him to incorporate them into the track in a way which made sense and flowed right. It is clear that Josh has a talent for writing and knows what works.”
