Josh Wantie Gets Real About Being A Musician Living In Lockdown On New Single

The third wave of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is in full force. South African is currently in a stage four lockdown with many countries around the world in similar situations. The arts have been one sector that has been decimated by the pandemic globally and many musicians have suffered as a result. On his new single ‘Lose Myself’, local pop crooner Josh Wantie shares his story.

“Lockdowns were tough on most, but as a musician, life somewhat came to a standstill. Feeling caught between this weird place of having time on my hands to write but no inspiration from the outside world, I began feeling ‘lost,’” Josh explains.

He adds “‘Lose Myself’ is that internal dialogue of feeling clueless and lost about my future as an artist in a struggling industry. It’s a raw approach at sifting through my feelings during a challenging time.”

Josh says that he has been working on the song for the better part of a year. “The track was written without lyrics and melody in early 2020 but the song only took shape towards the end of the year when things really began to stretch everyone thin,” he continues. “Hopefully, people can relate to the track about the very real struggle of being an artist in an ever-changing world.”
