Get ready, Mzansi! Local pop crooner Josh Wantie is ready to make some major moves. After moving to the UK to expand his music career, Josh Wantie is bringing the heat as he joins forces with international singing sensation Conor Maynard on a new track titled ‘Never Let Me Go’ this Friday.
Josh met Conor shortly after moving to the UK and the two have struck up an incredible friendship. Over the years, Conor has taken the international pop space by storm with hits like ‘Vegas Girl’, ‘Turn Around’ which features Ne-Yo, ‘R U Crazy’ and ‘Hold On Tight’ all charting around South Africa and the world. He’s also collaborated with some of music’s biggest names including Snoop Dogg, SHAUN, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Hardwell, Cash Cash, R3HAB, Kriss Kross Amsterdam, Sam Feldt and Ty Dolla $ign.
While the two have been friends for a while, the idea to work on a song came about after the Josh and Conor took part in a songwriting camp in London at the beginning of the year where Josh was inspired by Conor’s approach to making music. A few months later, Josh sent Conor some of his material for his input and he loved a demo titled ‘Never Let Me Go’ so much, that said he was keen to feature and work on it together.
“[Conor] is a consummate professional and one of the best writers/singers I have ever worked with, so it’s an awesome opportunity,” Josh says about working with the pop star.
The new single comes after Josh released his ‘Lifeline EP’ and then having it nominated in the ‘Best Pop Album’ category at this year’s South African Music Awards.
