It’s a sad sad day for the local entertainment world as veteran actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards has died.
A representative from Elysian Management confirmed the news to TshisaLIVE but said further details would be released after meeting with Surtie-Richard’s family.
Shaleen famously played Nenna on long-running soapie ‘Egoli’ and also made a name for herslelf playing Fiela Komoetie in the 1988 film adaptation of the Afrikaans novel ‘Fiela se kind’.
More recently, Surtie-Richards starred in the kykNet series Arendsvlei.
Surtie-Richards was born in Upington on 7 May 1955 and lived as a teacher in the 70s and 80s, before pivoting to a career in the entertainment industry in 1984.
RIP, Shaleen.
