Mobi Dixon Drops New Banger ‘Bhutiza’

If there’s one thing Mobi Dixon excels at, it’s making people dance. His latest album ‘Live The Music’ recently reached gold status in South Africa (which means it sold over 15 000 copies!) and to celebrate, the star is planning on rereleasing the record with a variety of different remixes and alternate versions the songs we fell in love with on the record. In addition, the new album will also feature hot remixes the star has done for the likes of Maxwell, Davido and Tinashe. Meanwhile, the star has released ‘Bhutiza’ as the lead single off the project.

‘Bhutiza’ is another dance masterpiece for the singer. The song features Nichume, a new Xhosa vocalist, who aces her smooth delivery and shows off her natural talent. The song is a monumental release for the star who, for the first time, opted not to use any English lyrics. “I came with a different approach on this one where I challenged myself as a producer to see how versatile I can be. This meant challenging my versatility while still keeping my traditional tribal sound. I never want to be predictable”, Mobi Dixon explains.

As expected, the song is a banger and is already heating up radio and dancefloors around the country. “When I was testing the single, before it was even mastered, people would go wild on the dance floor and ask me which song it was and where they could get it,” the producer says of the song’s early days adding that it was only natural to release ‘Bhutiza’ as his next single. Mobi was also recently nominated for in the Best Artist or Group category under the African Electro section at the All Africa Music Awards. “It was totally unexpected. I literally jumped and screamed and gave my son a fright when I received the e-mail,” he says. “It shows that when you put in the work and stick to your guns good things come your way. This will be my first time in Nigeria and I am super excited. The nomination alone, just being chosen as one of the best on the continent, makes me feel like I am already a winner.”

‘Bhutiza’ is now available to download on your favourite digital and the star’s upcoming re-release ‘Live The Music: Gold Edition’ releases countrywide on the 22nd of September.
