Those who know me will know just how obsessed I am with Joshua Na Die Reën. Not only does he have a magnificent voice, but his music has so much meaning and emotion which makes his material so beautiful to listen to. His latest album ‘Die Wêreld Binne My’ was released late last year and now, the singer has released a beautiful video for the album’s next single ‘Laat Die Wind My Neem’.
Again, the song is a beautiful piece of poetry from the star. “The song can be described by looking at the first words in the second verse of the song: ‘Soms wil ek net loop waar die velde in my groen is en die lug vol hoop, maar om die droogte in die oë te kyk, dit leer my die kuns om te staan deur tyd’, which translated means: Sometimes I just want to walk where the fields are green and the sky is full of hope, and to look at the drought in the eyes, it teaches me to stand strong against time,” Joshua explains. “For people, it is always so difficult to just walk away from certain things and to work through difficulties (in relationships or the battle in yourself), so you can walk away learning from this experience but if you run from it, it will just come back again.”
The video shows the star performing on a mountain with an impressive view behind him. Shot in Hogsback in the Eastern Cape, the video captures the essence and beauty of the song – something every video aspires to do. The song is another fantastic piece of music from Joshua Na Die Reën who has become one of the freshest faces in Afrikaans contemporary music.
