Filipa Is Back With A Catchy New Bop Titled ‘Boys With Girlfriends’

Local pop lass Filipa made headlines when she won Ryan Seacrest’s cover song competition with her haunting rendition of One Direction’s Story of My Life. She has since released a few singles and returns with the breezy pop track ‘Girls With Boyfriends’ this week. The track serves as the next single off the star’s upcoming six-track EP titled ‘Truth, Lies & Boys’.

The pop track is exactly the direction Filipa should be taking at this stage in her career. It’s a well-written, catchy pop song that shows off her smooth, powerful vocal. The production is simple and effective but edgy making it the perfect fit for mainstream radio. It’s great to see Filipa pushing herself creatively and the hard work has clearly paid off here.

Filipa co-wrote the song alongside Pam Sheyne who is famous for writing Christina Aguilera’s smash hit single ‘Genie In A Bottle’, Jessica Simpson’s ‘Irresistable’, Elvis Blue’s ‘Lighthouse’ and Demi Lovato’s ‘Work Of Art’. “We had a really productive and fun time together,” Pam explains, “Filipa has the whole package; she is a true artist with a signature voice and the drive to Go all the way, not just nationally but internationally too. Filipa knows what she wants and who she is and is a part of the whole process. It’s been a pleasure to work with her on her project with my team, Andy Marsh and Deyder Cintron, and we all have very high hopes for her career.”

Naturally, this is a song Filipa is excited for the country to hear. “The song speaks about the awkward moral position you find yourself in when you have feelings for somebody who’s already in a relationship,” the singer says about the new single. “In my case, the chemistry was clear from both sides, but then, who is actually responsible for calling time on the flirting or interaction? When I started working on the lyrics, I was worried about the public interpretation, but then realized, after speaking to friends, that it’s something that happens more often than we think, and this is me saying that it’s ok to talk about it. We’re all human and, sometimes, fall in love at the wrong time and with the wrong person.” Filipa’s ‘Truth, Lies & Boys’ drops everywhere on the 30th of June 2017.
