Thousands of people around the country were both shocked and upset when SPHEctacula and DJ Naves announced that they were leaving Metro FM after seven years at the station. The duo said it was time to push themselves out of their comfort zone but haven’t revealed what their next step was – until now. The DJs are heading back to radio as the official hosts of Gagasi FM’s new drive show!
SPHEctacula and DJ Naves will take over the station every weekday from 3-6pm and is a massive step in their career. “We knew we were ready for change and something bigger to challenge ourselves. We weren’t sure precisely what this change would be, but we believed in having a bigger impact on radio. We put it out to the universe and our paths have aligned with Gagasi FM at the right time. We would like to whole-hearted thank the Gagasi FM team for believing in our vision and entrusting us with their prime time show. We look forward to executing our shared vision for the show with them and growing with the station,” the duo say in a press statement.
The show is also coming sooner than you think! The duo confirms that their new show premieres on the 1st of June 2017. Since SPHEctacula and DJ Naves are known to make the country dance, they have also announced that they will be releasing a brand new EP on the same day titled ‘The Kings Way Vol 1’.
This is just the next step of the duo’s massive takeover. Recently, the duo also announced that they are officially the new owners of the popular premium clubbing venue Icon Soweto while the fourth season of their hit reality show ‘1s and 2s’ is currently airing every Tuesday at 9pm on SABC 1.
