Kahn Morbee and Karen Zoid may both be coaches on The Voice South Africa but they have known each other for a very long time. So, it comes as no surprise that the two decided to join forces and release a new single together. After working on something backstage at the popular reality show, the two managed to get into the studio together and ‘We Could Be Divine’ was born – the lead single off Kahn’s upcoming second solo record.
The song is a ballad with a twist. Naturally, both Kahn and Karen are rockers at heart and this is evident in the single. I love that despite opting for a ballad, their essence is so clear. It’s something not many musos get right and reminds me just how much of a perfect choice they are to serve as coaches on The Voice South Africa. The song is something different, something special and I have a feeling it’s going to do big things locally.
“Teaming up with Karen has been an awesome experience and the song creation was entirely organic and effortless, – she’s become a great friend and the process of working together will be a memory I cherish forever” says Kahn. “Working on the Voice SA together allowed us to morph in to each other’s creative spaces – and between rehearsals and everything else, we worked on different ideas and in the end we came with something that we are both looking forward to sharing with the world” In fact, the song has already been well-received by the public.
