Although the second season of The Voice is in full swing, contestants from the show’s first season are building their musical careers. One of the standout contestants from the first season is Chris Werge. After releasing ‘On My Mind’ shortly after being booted off the show last year, the singer is back with a brand new single – a mid-tempo ballad titled ‘Tell Me’.
The song has strong pop and folk elements to it and it’s a genre Chris is very comfortable in. While the singer delivers a solid vocal performance, it’s the songwriting that stands out. The song is heartfelt, emotional and comes from a place of honesty. While I don’t think the song is commercial enough to introduce the singer to a large spectrum of audiences, his talent is undeniable.
Chris launched the song by calling on some famous faces, friends, fans and family. Matthew Mole, Richard Stirton & Top Billing’s Chris Jaftha are just a few of the names that have taken to social media to support the countdown to the release of the Voice SA 2016 contestant’s new tune.
“This song is an expression of the tension in a relationship between our desire for a physical and emotional connection with someone,” Chris says of the song. Chris undoubtedly has the potential to go far. I would like to see a more commercial track from the singer next time but in the meantime, I’m totally going to be jamming along to this one.
