After weeks of teasing us on social media, local singer Janie Bay has finally dropped her new single ‘Dance’. The song serves as the lead single off her upcoming album and the first after signing a global deal with Warner Music South Africa. After performing alongside acts such as Jack Parow, Matthew Mole, Die Heuwels Fantasies, aKing, Francois Van Coke, Desmond & The Tutus and Valiant Swart, Janie is ready to for her major label release.
The song is a beautiful indie-pop folk song which sees the singer soulfully sing over a beautifully produced beat. While I’m not sure if this is something commercial radio will eat up, the song is comforting, soulful and full of emotion. Janie has a unique, strong vocal and puts it on full display here.
“I am super happy and honoured so have an engine like Warner Music South Africa to help steer and navigate my music to the masses!” Janie says of signing to Warner Music South Africa. While Tracy Fraser, MD of label adds that “We’ve been watching Janie grow and develop as an artist for some time and are thrilled that she has now joined our roster. She is a talented and beguiling artist, with great musical instincts.”
Janie also released the video for the track today, produced by herself, as she kicks off the track’s campaign with a bang. Her upcoming album with the label is also scheduled for release later this year.
