Meh are a new electronic act on the local pop scene and their new single ‘Uriella’, featuring the vocal talent of Kyle Deutsch, is starting to take off. The song is the second release from the trio which is a lovely mix of piano and electronic music and is a great way to introduce themselves to the local audience.
The song is striking because it is both haunting and has a catchy electro beat. Kyle’s vocals are, yet again, flawless. It’s crazy that he is able to adapt his vocals to any genre and does a stellar job here. “Kyle was great to work with. He is super professional,” the band tells me. “It was all over pretty quickly- the recording process was done in two hours. He knew exactly what we were looking for in the lead vocal, and nailed it first time.” The vocals were a perfect fit with the simple production. I loved that there were moments that Kyle was able to shine and where the band’s production was put on full display. I do think the song could be cleaned up in certain parts to make it more radio friendly, but Meh definitely have the potential to make it big.
When asked about the inspiration behind the song, the band tells me that “Uriella means ‘Child of Light’ – the song is about the fragility of beauty and innocence in this world, and the resulting balance between good and evil. We all fall at some point in our lives and in the process we lose our innocence. ” The band has also revealed that they will be collaborating with other artists over the next few months and that they’re dropping their next offering in just a few weeks. “Our signature style is to feature different vocalists, so we’re keen to discover new talent and also work with some of our favourite artists,” the band explains. “We’re releasing a new single at the end of September which features a completely different style of singing, so watch out for it on Twitter.” Meh have delivered a great track and I’m excited to see what else they have up their sleeve.
