Vumaala and Bipolar Sunshine Drop New Anthem ‘Can’t Get Enough’

If you’re looking for a song that you can shout at the top of your lungs, look no further than the latest collaboration between SA’s Vumaala and British singer, Bipolar Sunshine. Their new single, Can’t Get Enough, was based around the crowd vocal melody – “To me, the chorus of the song is the most important part,” Vumaala (Bubele Booi) says. “It captures the rowdy joy of singing together even without any words.” Teaming up with Bipolar Sunshine came through Vumaala’s publisher. “He thought we’d enjoy working together and, on the first day, we made 2 amazing songs. We both knew the creative chemistry was there.”

Vumaala is the stage name of Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and producer Bubele Booi, who officially stepped out from behind the scenes with the release of his debut single, Show Me ft. Ré Alissa. “I have LOVED the Vumaala process,” he shares. “It’s been a complete adjustment because there are many different aspects of creativity to handle, not just the music. It’s ALL the moving pieces, but that allows me to have new creative outlets and I’m grateful for that.”

A big part of his success has been the support he’s received from his online community – one he continues to be humbled by and grateful for. There’s an ebb and flow to virality, though. The hardest part is not letting oneself get caught in despair when one video performs differently from another. Every view is a person who’s taken the time to listen or watch, and that person is precious to me.”

Vumaala is based between South Africa and the USA, but has recently been back home. When asked what he loves most about being back, it was an easy answer. “THE FOOOOOOOOD!” – something any South African would agree with. “I also love how people greet each other.”

As for what’s ahead? It’s all about the body of work. I’m slowly collecting the records and soon we’ll have the body of work ready to share.” “This chapter is about allowing myself to be seen, not just as a producer, but as an artist creating from a deeply personal place.”

There have been many milestones and moments to celebrate, but a big highlight of the year so far was Vumaala playing a small private gig in Los Angeles, and Lupita Nyong’o was one of the few guests. “She and my brother had an interpretive dance battle. It was a funny moment of how life can take you to places you never would have thought of.”
