‘Zootropolis 2’ Sprints to No. 1 on Disney+ With 32M Views in First Week

Zootropolis 2 is wasting no time proving it’s still top of the food chain. The highly anticipated sequel has surged to the top of Disney+, racking up an impressive 32 million views globally in its first seven days, enough to make it the No. 1 film on the platform during its premiere week.

The film’s streaming success is just the latest chapter in a franchise that continues to pull serious weight with audiences worldwide. Combined, Zootropolis, Zootropolis+ and Zootropolis 2 have now amassed more than 885 million hours streamed globally, a figure that showcases the property’s staying power nearly a decade after its debut.

That momentum was already firmly established before the sequel even hit streaming. During its theatrical run, Zootropolis 2 left a massive pawprint at the global box office, grossing a staggering $1.9 billion worldwide. The film now stands as the highest-grossing animated release under the Motion Picture Association banner, ranks as the eighth highest-grossing film of all time, and holds the title of the top-performing animated release of 2025 in South Africa.

The sequel builds on the legacy of the original Zootropolis, which became a cultural and commercial phenomenon upon its release. The film not only captured audiences globally but also took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards in 2017. Today, it continues to resonate: Zootropolis ranks as the No. 7 film of all time on Disney+ and, according to Nielsen, has remained one of the most-streamed movies across all platforms in the U.S. for three of the past six years.

With streaming numbers climbing and franchise engagement showing no signs of slowing, Zootropolis 2 continues to be one of Disney’s most enduring modern hits.
