Nigerian pop star CKay has taken the world by storm with his global smash ‘Love Nwantiti’. The song remains the biggest African song in the world and introduced the star to a global audience. Now, CKay drops the official follow-up singles: ‘Emiliana’ and the Blxackie-assisted ‘By Your Side’.
‘Emiliana’ will be the focus single globally and has the star’s signature breezy style of afro-beats that won him acclaim and made him a household name. “‘Emiliana’ is a song about a long-distance relationship I was in. It’s 2021 and teleportation hasn’t been invented, which is so unfortunate,” CKay.
The focus single for the South African market will be the Blxckie-assisted ‘By Your Side’ – produced by Tumisho. The song has strong Amapiano influences that CKay seamlessly bodies and stamps with his emo-afro beats signature. Rapper Blxckie injects his effortless flow onto the track in both Zulu and English, providing the song with an additional take on the romantic situation.
CKay explains that the song was influenced by a decision to explore a romantic relationship between two girls, adding that although the situation was a messy one, he ended making the right decision.
The tracks solidify CKay’s status as Africa’s biggest stars and are expected to keep the ‘Love Nwantiti’ momentum going as the world falls deeper and deeper in love with African music.
