DStv’s new Explora Ultra brings the best of two worlds together by introducing 3rd party streaming apps to the popular DStv Explora, adding unprecedented depth to the entertainment, information and sports offering available through DStv.
The Explora Ultra offers all the much-loved PVR features from previous models, including the ability to record, rent movies from BoxOffice and Catch Up on favourite series. The addition of 3rd party streaming applications makes the DStv Explora Ultra the ultimate device for customers wanting an easy and simple way to enjoy content across many services, in one centralised experience.
To help customers more easily find shows to enjoy, we’ve added a home page with recommendations that showcase content from across DStv, Showmax, BoxOffice and selected streaming apps. No more hunting for something to watch – press the HOME button and check out what we’ve got lined up for you! The new remote control also allows quick access to streaming apps and the built-in WiFi makes it easy to connect online.
Like the DStv Explora, the Explora Ultra is wholly manufactured in South Africa. Its enclosure is made of 100% recycled material and packaging contains no single-use plastics.

DStv now offers the option to sign up with Africa’s leader in video entertainment, online, and enjoy the best of DStv, instantly, on a host of connected devices, for ultimate flexibility.
DStv customers with decoders have always had access to streaming channels and Catch Up content via the DStv Now app. A new step towards greater flexibility means that customers are now able to access the world of DStv content exclusively via the app. This also means that customers wishing to sign up for DStv are able to instantly access the best entertainment, sport and news on DStv by signing up for a DStv package on dstv.co.za, downloading and logging into the DStv app and streaming.
The DStv app offers customers all the best content from Africa’s biggest satellite entertainment, news, sport and educational content, on any screen of their choice – via Smart TV, browser, mobile phone or gaming console with a consistent high-speed data connection.
DStv residential packages are all available, with the full set of live channels and Catch Up shows. Streaming customers will be able to watch their favourite shows on Catch Up on four devices, with a maximum of two concurrent streams.
