Local crooner, Justin Serrao, is back with some new music as he drops his highly-anticipated track ‘Perfect Stranger’. Serrao joined renowned SA producer and musician, Mark Beling, in studio for the writing and recording of ‘Perfect Stranger’ – and it’s a beautiful power ballad from the crooner.
“I had something I wanted to get off my chest in the writing of ‘Perfect Stranger’, so I came to Mark with a stripped-down love song and we turned it into this big ballad. Was about 3 months of back and forth with this baby,” Justin tells us. “’Perfect stranger’ is a song about not wanting to settle for the next candidate just because they are there. Looking back on love lost. The struggle of a broken heart.”
The music video compliments the struggle of a broken heart perfectly with the camera following a broken soul travelling through the big city, reminiscing on a lost Love. The creative decision to go with the black and white treatment gives the video its distant memory feel. Directed by Charl Fraser, the music video was filmed at four different locations in Johannesburg, with some of the footage shot on a previous trip to New York. The locations in Joburg were High Seas Studios in Rosebank, a private home in Northcliff, Sandton Gautrain Station and The Botanist in Parkhurst.
Naturally, Justin is so proud of this music video. “It was a looong day of shooting with the different locations and looking like a crazy person singing out loud in peak our traffic in Sandton. Totally worth it though, it came out beautifully.”
