The world is still reeling with the loss of music icon Johnny Clegg and, for the family, it’s been an incredible experience mourning with the entire country. Now, family friend and manager Roddy Quin has confirmed that Johnny had a private burial surrounded by his family and close friends.
In the Jewish religion, those who have passed on are buried as soon as possible (sometimes even on the same day) so it’s no surprise that Johnny has already been laid to rest.
Naturally, the Clegg family is still coming to terms with losing Johnny. In an emotional statement, his son, and fellow musician, Jesse Clegg says “Thank you for the magical gifts you have given us and for creating a special place in your life for your family. You have inspired me both as a musician and as a man, and given me the tools to live a meaningful life.”
He adds “I will miss you deeply and I struggle to imagine a world without you. But I am comforted to know that your wisdom and compassion lives on in all of us. Hamba kahle dad, be at peace. You have done so much and we honor you. Love you always.”
A public memorial is expected to take place soon.
