With just one week to go before the finals of the third season of The Voice South Africa, Yahto Kraft, a fan-favourite on the show, got the boot after receiving the lowest number of votes from the South African public. Now, the 18-year-old #TeamLira participant is focused on the future as he sets his sight on superstardom.
“I had the most incredible time on The Voice! Performing with such incredibly talented people every week and sharing the stage with them truly is a honour and I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to do that. My highlight was probably the Top 16 group song, it was so much fun!” Yahto tells us shortly after his elimination adding that his time on the show has been an incredible learning curve. “The show has taught me that hard work pays off. You don’t get anything sitting on your backside and waiting for something to happen, you have to take your destiny in your own hands.”
The one thing Yahto taught fans was that it’s incredibly important to be yourself – in every aspect of your life. “I am unapologetically myself as an artist. I love pushing boundaries and being controversial!” he says. “Musically I love keeping people on their toes. Doing the unexpected is my favourite thing!”
On his exit, Yahto tells us that he’s sad and disappointed “but I never expected to get this far! It’s not about the fact that I’m leaving, it’s about the fact that I was here.”
As for the future, Yahto says that “Over the next few months I’m going to make sure no one forgets the name Yahto Kraft! I’m launching my own YouTube channel, I’m currently in talks to launch my own fashion clothing brand and there is so much more is in store! The House of Kraft is about to get crazy, so buckle up.”
After weeks of spectacular performances and heartbreaking farewells, The Voice SA fans have until Thursday, 4 July at 22:00 to decide who the winner of this year’s competition will be – crooner Eon le Roux, The PJ Twins (Peter and John Talmarkes), African diva Siki Jo-An, soulful Afrikaans singer Soné Joubert or young rocker Tasché Burger?
