Ross Learmonth Returns With New Anthem ‘Ready To Dance’

After a year defined by growth and creative renewal, Ross Learmonth is back with his latest single that captures his energy, freedom, and evolution as a solo artist. Titled “Ready To Dance”, the track is out now across all platforms. “It’s one of those rare songs where the lyrics and music were born at the same time,” Ross shares. “By the time the chorus came around, it literally wrote itself – ‘I’m just ready to dance’ – it just felt right with how the song was moving.”

What began as a stripped-back acoustic idea a year ago quickly evolved into something bigger. Ross first tested it live on stage, throwing it into a set at the last minute, and the reaction said it all. “It slammed,” he laughs. “That’s when I knew it was time to bring it to life properly.”

He teamed up once again with Rusti and Tristan from Chasing Fantasia to produce the single, working remotely across countries. “It’s a bit different working from afar,” he says, “but honestly, that brings a fresh perspective and new energy to the music.” Sonically, Ready To Dance builds and lifts, moving from a smooth cruise into an explosive crescendo. “It starts off cruising and ends like a rocket ship,” Ross explains. “It tells a story – it takes you on a journey. By the end, you can’t help but move with it.”

While the title might sound like a pure feel-good anthem, there’s more depth beneath the rhythm. “I hope people feel moved, and not just to dance,” he says. “There are moments in this song that feel so free and exhilarating to me, and I really hope that comes across to everyone listening.”

The release follows an incredible year for Ross, who has marked milestone performances at RMB Starlight Classics, Kirstenbosch Gardens, The Goo Goo Dolls’ opening slot, and The SA Soundwave in Cyprus alongside The Parlotones and Arno Carstens. “This year has been a rollercoaster ride with new music being the constant fuel through it all,” he reflects. “Releasing consistently over the last 18 months has been a real highlight for me.”

Stepping out on his own after two decades in a band was never easy, but it’s been transformative. “The biggest lesson has been realizing that you’re only as strong as the team around you,” Ross says. “At first, it felt isolating, but having the right people beside me has made all the difference.”

Now, he’s found a renewed sense of clarity, both creatively and personally. “Honestly, emotionally, physically, and creatively, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been,” he admits. “I’ve got a new song in my pocket and feel incredibly blessed. December’s looking exciting with an announcement coming soon, and I already have some amazing shows lined up for next year, both in South Africa and abroad.”

Behind the music, there’s also a quieter victory — one he’s deeply proud of. “I’m approaching five years sober this January,” he shares. “It’s something I never thought would be possible. I’ve found new ways to elevate and ‘cheers’ the moment, without losing myself in it.”

If Ross had to sum up this chapter in three words? Daunting. Freeing. Rewarding. With Ready To Dance, he’s not just moving to a new beat; he’s stepping fully into the artist, the person, and the joy he’s always been meant to embody.
