Review: The Legend of Hercules

The epic flop of 2014 so far…

Starring: Kellan Lutz and Gaia Weiss

Plot: In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. The story behind one of the greatest myths is revealed.

Remarks: This film had all the ingredients needed to produce an epic masterpiece besides for one crucial aspect – budget. From the incredibly fake lions, to the embarrassing use of green screens, the film under performs in a big way. The storyline wasn’t as strong as it should be either and I missed that all-important climax at the end as well. On the other hand, the costumes are incredible and brought some life to the screen. Also, Kellan had incredible chemistry with Gaia and that made the love story incredibly believable.

Rating: 1/5

The Legend of Hercules releases on April 17th, 2014.
