Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The epic animated show finally hits the big screen – and it’s all that!

Starring: Megan Fox and Will Arnett

Plot: Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil and her cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

Remarks: Initially I was expecting a disaster. The trailer looked incredibly dark and eerie and I instantly thought Michael Bay, the producer on the film, was trying too hard. But, I learned my lesson – never doubt Michael Bay. Sure, it’s not as light as the cartoon but this reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had all the necessary elements the cartoon had – suspense, comedy, action and some romance. Megan Fox played a great April (even if she didn’t have ginger hair) and her ability to have such a connection with animated characters is amazing. Will Arnett was pretty average in the film but, obviously, he needed to be there. The story was strong as well, despite the fact that we all knew the original story. I left the cinema feeling rather happy and I can’t wait to watch it again!

Rating: 4/5
