Owl City
Mobile Orchestra (Universal Music)
Breakdown: Owl City’s latest hit ‘Verge’ featuring Aloe Blacc has proven that he can still make damn good pop music. The singer dropped his fifth studio album ‘Mobile Orchestra’ which sees him explore with other artists more than ever before. His new single ‘Unbelieveable’ features boy band Hanson and is a nostalgic masterpiece.
How Many Good Tracks: 10 of the 10.
What I Liked: I have always been a fan of Owl City. He goes into studio with the intention of telling a story rather than recording a song. All of the tracks on this record are perfect pop tracks, however, they are recorded in the most poetic way and really give us an inside look into whom Adam Young is as a person. Adam is a musical genius. Not only does he have one of the most unique, brilliant voices in the industry, but the singer has also written each and every song on the album as well as produced and played each and every instrument on the tracks. There are very few people in the world who are able to do that. Adam has also recorded music that is true to who he is. Adam is a very spiritual and religious person and has recorded two songs celebrating God in the most beautiful way. Something that many listeners can relate to.
What I Didn’t Like: There is that notion that Owl City is like Nickleback in the way that every song sounds similar, but I’m not going to get into that…
Best Track: Unbelievable (Feat. Hanson)
