Review: Måns Zelmerlöw – Perfectly Damaged

Måns Zelmerlöw
Perfectly Damaged (Warner Music)

Breakdown: Swedish pop star, Måns Zelmerlöw, made headlines all around the world earlier this year when his smash hit ‘Heroes’ took the throne at this year’s Eurovision contest. The track has gone on to chart in countries all around the year and now, the singer has dropped his sixth studio album, Perfectly Damaged.

How Many Good Tracks: 10 of the 12.

What I Liked: If there’s one thing you can expect from pop music out of Sweden, is that it’s going to be good. Måns’ new album is exactly that! Filled with some pop bangers, catchy lyrics, beautiful ballads and brilliant production, the record is a pop masterpiece. Måns also has a really pleasant voice that is not too overpowering yet is distinct enough for listeners to know it’s his. Måns is not only a great singer, but he had a hand in writing each and every song on the album as well. The album’s sound is incredibly current and we can’t think of any reasons that radio stations around the world wouldn’t jump onto his new music.

What I Didn’t Like: Although the lyrics are really great, the album is basic and seems to follow the traditional pop recipe. We would have liked to see a bit more heart and soul in this album.

Best Track: Heroes

Rating: 4/5
