Review: Joshua Na Die Reën – Die Wêreld Binne My

Joshua Na Die Reën
Die Wêreld Binne My (JNDR Musiek)

Breakdown: After a well-deserved break, Afrikaans superstar Joshua Na Die Reën is back with his highly anticipated second studio album. The album features 16 beautiful tracks including the smash hit ‘Vir Altyd’, the theme song from the film of the same name.

How Many Good Tracks: 13 of the 16.

What I Liked: The wonderful thing about music is that an artist is able to move the listener to their core with the message they put in song – and Joshua Na Die Reën has done just that with this album. He is an incredible songwriter and portrays his thoughts and feelings so beautifully in the music he creates. The songs aren’t overshadowed by production and allow his most powerful instrument to shine – his voice. The singer understands how to use his voice. He belts it out when need be but, more importantly, knows how to use his vocals delicately – and that’s where he shines. This is a fantastic album and I highly recommend getting yourself a copy.

What I Didn’t Like: Honestly, there’s not much I don’t like. The only thing I will point out is the fact that Joshua Na Die Reën knows what works for him and uses this to his advantage. So, there isn’t much experimentation on this record. But hey, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

Best Track: Stof En Sterre

Rating: 4/5
