Right Here Right Now (Sony Music)
Breakdown: She may have been around for years, but Jordin Sparks has just released her third studio album ‘Right Here Right Now’ which sees her take a new urban approach to her previous pop sound. The album has already seen the hits ‘Double Tap’ and ‘Right Here Right Now’ and is a brand new sound for the American Idol winner.
How Many Good Tracks: 8 of the 14.
What I Liked: After her brilliant ‘Battlefield’ album, which was released back in 2009, I was excited to see what she would bring to te table. After not releasing an album for six years, Jordin has released an incredibly current album. Lyrically, this is Jordin’s best album to date and she proves that, although one of the world’s most underrated artists, she is a force to be reckoned with. Jordin has grown tremendously as an artist and I’m so happy to have new music from her!
What I Didn’t Like: Jordin’s new sound is going to be rather difficult for her old fans to get used to. There is hardly a pop influence on the record and, although the album has some brilliant songs on it, I doubt that her old fans will support this album. The album also sounds like Jordin is singing songs intended for artists like Mariah Carey and Ciara on this record so the album doesn’t have Jordin written all over it, which is unfortunate.
