Breakdown: She’s rap’s new ‘it’ girl smashing records left, right and centre. Her current single ‘Fancy’, which features Charli XCX has done incredibly well and she has just announced ‘Black Widow’ featuring Rita Ora as the next single. The New Classic is the debut album from the Australian and it’s definitely grabbed the music industry’s attention.
Tracks We Didn’t Skip: 7 of the 12.
What I Liked: Iggy definitely found something for her that works and ran with it. Her voice is very unique in the industry and she knows it. It’s clear that the album had a lot of thought put into it. The collaborations work, the production is on point and the lyrics are fantastic. The album is full of swag and it’s exactly what one would expect from a female rapper.
What I Didn’t Like: I just don’t believe this. It seems like this is some sort of parody album or something because I feel the real Iggy Azalea is far from the person she is pretending to be on the record and that she is putting on some kind of act. Female rappers are usually very transparent and vulnerable but it doesn’t feel as if Iggy put herself on a platter.
Best Track: Black Widow featuring Rita Ora will be the perfect next single!
