A movie that will definitely get you thinking.
Starring: Greg Kinnear and Connor Corum.
Plot: Based on real-life occurrences, Heaven Is For Real tells the story of a small-town father who must find the courage and conviction to share his son’s extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world. Colton, the son of a minister, claims to have visited Heaven during a near death experience. Colton starts to remember the details of his amazing journey with childlike innocence and speaks matter-of-factly about things that happened before his birth, things he couldn’t possibly know. When the church is conflicted with what Todd is preaching, Colton’s experiences manage to change the lives of the family and the town forever.
Remarks: This story really manages to pull at your heart strings. I love the fact that this film really made one think. Sure, it’s a film, but since it’s based on someones encounter one really takes a step back and thinks about what could possibly be out there. I loved Connor Corum! The kid played the role so amazingly and really brought out the innocence of a four-year-old child. Again, the emotion in this film is real and the viewer manages to extract that from the film. I don’t know how else they would have done it, but the scenes where Colton is in heaven just looked so tacky in the film but I guess they just wanted to have it identify with the audience. Another thing I didn’t like was the fact that this film was very religious and neither in the trailer or the poster does it reflect that. Immediately they cut out the non-christian audiences and I didn’t like that at all. If they would have given some warning it would have been a different story.
