A scary, captivating novel that you need to get your hands on.
Plot: Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe—who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can face the unbelievable truth about her husband—and herself.
Remarks: Harlan Coben is a master of his craft – and this book is a perfect example of this. Not only is his writing magical, but he manages to transport the reader into his world so effortlessly. Fool Me Once is a fantastic novel. The story is incredibly strong and it’s the type of book that you won’t be able to put down. There are twists and turns at every corner and Harlan depicts this beautifully. The one thing I really enjoyed is the character developement. The people you’re reading about at the end of the book are so different to the ones you meet at the beginning of the novel and what’s really great is that you feel you have been on the journey with them. The book, however, requires a lot of thought and I did find myself a bit confused a times. Trust me, you want to get your hands on this book!
