Greg Holden
Chase The Sun (Warner Music)
Breakdown: You may have not heard of Greg Holden but that is going to change soon. The British singer has just dropped his first major album (fourth overall) and has had celebrities such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran talking about his brilliant music. The album’s debut single ‘Hold On Tight’ is climbing charts around the world at the moment.
How Many Good Tracks: 8 of the 11.
What I Liked: There is hardly a time when I listen to an album and I feel so many emotions. Greg explores every aspect of his life in his music and he does it beautifully in his writing so the one thing you can count on on this record is the fantastic lyrical content. Greg’s music reminds me a lot of something Mumford & Sons would release and it’s something that is incredibly popular at the moment. Greg also delves deep into hardships he encountered, such as his sexuality, and tells his stories so beautifully. His track ‘Boys In The Streets’, in which he discusses his father’s disapproval of his gay relationships, has had celebrities around the world in awe of his music and he has made his negative experience something positive for so many people. It’s music like this that can change the world.
What I Didn’t Like: This isn’t necessarily a radio friendly album. There are times I wish the composition of the songs were a bit different so it could have a chance to play on some of the popular stations around the country because I feel there are many messages that need to be heard on this record.
Best Track: Boys In The Street
