A story of deceit, skill and love
Starring: Will Smith and Margot Robbie
Plot: Nicky Spurgeon is an extremely accomplished con man who takes an amateur con artist, Jess, under his wing. Nicky and Jess become romantically involved, and with Nicky’s profession of being a liar and a cheater for a living, he realizes that deception and love are things that don’t go together. They split, only to see each other three years later… And things get messy as the person Nicky works for is now the boyfriend of his ex-flame Oh, did we mention Nicky wants Jess back now?
Remarks: After the disaster that was Will Smith’s previous film, After Earth, Will had to prove himself with this film and I must say that I rather enjoyed it. Will and the cast showed the intricate lifestyle of con men and pickpockets and just how much of a large-scale an operation can be. One could instantly tell that Margot Robbie, of The Wolf of Wall Street fame, and will had brilliant chemistry and they carried that throughout the whole movie. The film, however, had a bit too many storylines for me and it goes very confusing at times. What I liked about the film though, is that it was refreshing. Most of us have had a phone or watch stolen, many times without us realizing it, and this movie shows just how easy it really is. Will is a fantastic actor. His facial expressions, his emotion and his ability to woo the viewer is exactly what makes him one of the best. This movie won’t blow you away but it will keep you hooked for the two hours.
