Coldplay
A Head Full Of Dreams (Warner Music)
Breakdown: It’s only been about a year and a half since Coldplay dropped their previous album ‘Ghost Stories’, however, the band already had tons of ideas for their next album they decided not to tour after the release and start recording tracks for their new album. Now, ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ is here! The album was preceded by the hit single ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ and features collaborations with Tove Lo, Beyonce and many more.
How Many Good Tracks: 7 of the 11.
What I Liked: If there’s one thing you can expect from Coldplay, its good music. While ‘Ghost Stories’ was a bit of a darker album, the mood and sound of this album is the polar opposite. The album is more upbeat, happier and, as the cover suggests, colourful. Coldplay also experimented a lot more on this album which sees more collaborations than they have ever done before. The tracks sound a lot more commercial thanks to these elements. I love that Coldplay are giving us a side of them we haven’t seen yet.
What I Didn’t Like: Many Coldplay fans might be disappointed with this record. This album is heavily produced which, for the first time in a long time, sees Chris Martin’s voice hide behind that. I also miss those emotional ballads on this album.
Best Track: Hymn For The Weekend
