Breakdown: Local songstress Charlize Berg has crawled into the hearts of many around the country throughout her career and she is back with a brand new album – As Jy Weet Dis Liefde. The album includes the hits ‘My Hart Myne’ and ‘Braaf’.
How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 12.
What I Liked: There is a big difference between Afrikaans sokkie musiek and pop. Charlize brings an international sound to her music this time around but still staying true to the Afrikaans music people enjoy. The songs are cleverly written and are beautifully produced and Charlize’s essence pours out of each and every song on the album. The 24-year-old has released a collection of music that her age group will go crazy over. Her voice is sounding better than ever and this is one of the best local pop records I have heard in a very long time.
What I Didn’t Like: There isn’t much I don’t like about this album. There are times, however, that she tries to emulate popular pop acts such as Taylor Swift, Fifth Harmony or Selena Gomez.
