Breakdown: They’re the group behind the smash hit singles She Looks So Perfect and Don’t Stop and they’ve just released their debut self-titled album. The group is liked by the One Direction boys which has given them a heap of success.
Tracks We Didn’t Skip: 7 of the 12.
What I Liked: Debut single She Looks So Perfect easily sets the tone of the album. The album is super teen-friendly and sees some strong choruses. The group already has a ton of fans and I think they will be pleased with the record. I love the instrumentals on the track again. The boys aren’t afraid to experiment with different sounds and often add elements that wouldn’t usually be there.
What I Didn’t Like: It’s clear from first listen that this album is incredibly repetitive. by track seven everything starts to sound the same which is a real shame. I’m also worried that 5 Seconds of Summer will be seen as copycats. The group have absolutely nothing unique about them and simply follow the recipe needed to get them onto radio. I hope we see some massive change in their next album. I don’t see this group lasting too long…
Best Track: The title track A.K.A. is the perfect way to start the album and needs to be the next single.
