Scooby Doo fever is taking South Africa by storm at the moment as Scooby Doo Live: Musical Mysteries opens in Johannesburg from the 4th – 6th of December in Johannesburg and in Cape Town from the 11th – 13th of December. In this exciting new production, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang have been called upon to help solve an epic mystery. A trouble-making ghost is haunting a local theatre and Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Scooby-Doo are on their way in the Mystery Machine to crack the case. With crazy ghosts, perplexing puzzles, and an abundance of Scooby Snacks, it`s Scooby-Doo and friends at their best, travelling across South Africa this summer, solving mysteries wherever they go.
Before the show premieres tomorrow, I sat down with Velma and chatted about the exciting new production and why you should go see it.
I’m so excited about Scooby Doo coming to Carnival City this week! Why should one come and watch the show?
Scooby and the rest of the gang need help solving the mystery of the Big Top Arena Theatre Ghost at Carnival City. Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, Scooby and I will all be there ready to find the clues and we’d love everyone to come along to help.
There are some new characters in this production as well. Give us a sneak peek into who we will be meeting.
Wilbur the Stage Hand, Walt the Theatre Manager and of course Muriel who runs the Theatre Box Office. They all seem to be a little mysterious and they seem to have a long history with each other.
How alike the TV show is this production?
Just like the TV series we’ve got a mystery to solve, but this is a musical mystery, so there will be singing and dancing with the entire gang.
Will the show be interactive? If so, how?
The show is very interactive. We need the help of the entire audience to help us spot the ghost! He’s very elusive.
What is the outlining message the production gives children who come to watch the show?
We all work together as a team. We’ve been friends for such a long time, but it’s only when we’re all working together that we are quickly able to solve all the mysteries we come across.
