Nick Jonas’ latest self-titled album, released in November last year, has been on our iPods for most of this year and just as we’ve started taking it off repeat, the singer dropped a brand new single off the upcoming rerelease of the album. The track, called ‘Levels’, still has the R&B sound Nick has used throughout his latest album mixed with elements of dance and funk.
If there’s one thing we can applaud Nick on is his brilliant vocal ability. From reaching high notes to the beautiful harmonies, Nick has hit the nail on the head with this one. Does anyone else hear elements of Alanis Morissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’ on this? While we love the track, we do think there are stronger single choices on his album which would have done better for his career than this one. Perhaps he should have released ‘Take Over’ instead?
The singer has decided to rerelease his latest album later this year saying that “I feel like the next step is just going to be getting a collection of a few more songs and maybe repackaging the album. I still feel like there’s some life left on the record I released last year.”
