Local pop sensation Matthew Mole took home the coveted Record Of The Year award at this year’s South African Music Awards for his smash hit ‘Keep It Together’. The song, which appeared on his latest studio album ‘Ghost’, was a fan-favourite off the album and quickly became a massive radio hit.
The categoty is the only one which is voted by fans which proves that Matthew’s fanbase has grown tremendously over the years. “I can’t even explain how grateful I am to take home Record Of The Year! It was completely unexpected; I was just honoured to be named among so many SA bangers,” Matthew told us shortly after winning the award. “The fact that this category was based purely on votes just makes me feel so encouraged and supported by so many amazing people. Mind = blown!”
Last year Matthew won the Best Pop Album for his album ‘Ghost’ – on which ‘Keep It Together’ serves as the third single. The single stresses facing up to a difficult season in your life and, rather than giving up, realising the value in what you can take away from it by pushing through.
