Master KG Responds To President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Love For Hit Single ‘Jerusalema’

In last night’s address to the nation, where President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa is finally ready to enter level one of lockdown, the president took some time to give praise to the impact Master KG and Nomcebo’s ‘Jerusalema’ has had on the world. The song recently topped the Shazam Global 200 chart and continues to do great things internationally and the president has urged South Africans to take part in the famous dance challenge this Heritage Day.

“There can be no better way to celebrate our South Africaness than to join the global phenomenon that is spreading across the world, that is the Jerusalema dance challenge. The Jerusalema song that I love so much,” Ramaphosa said in his address. “Show the world what we are capable of. Our performers have demonstrated to the world that we have got good music and good (dance) moves.”

Naturally, the address filled Master KG with pride and after a flood of tweets filled his timeline, Master KG humbly responded with a series of praying hand emojis.

Last month ‘Jerusalema’ reached more than 100 million streams on YouTube and a few weeks ago was featured by global superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Janet Jackson on Instagram.

“It’s so beautiful to see how Jerusalema has taken over the world, to see how far it has gone,” Master KG said in an interview earlier this year. “The song did amazing at home, in December 2019 charting on every radio station. It ruled the streets and people created memories to the song.”
