South African crooner, Danny K, is back! After taking some time off from music to focus on his new SHOUT campaign and raising a child with his wife, Danny has finally dropped some new music. The star has teamed up with rapper Anatii for his brand new single ‘For The Girls’.
Hip-Hop in South Africa has exploded over the past year and a half and Danny K clearly wants to ride that train. The new direction that star has taken sees him rap and sing over a banging hip-hop beat. I love the production on the song. The beats are strong and the chorus is fire. Anatii also delivers a stellar rap, proving again he has mad talent. The track sounds like something that would have been included on the ‘Empire’ soundtrack which is quite interesting as well.
While the more I listen to the song, the more it grows on me, I can’t help but wonder if this is the right direction for Danny. Hearing him rap is a bit awkward. However, what really inspires me about Danny is that he takes risks and is willing to dabble in every genre. That, to me, is the definition of a true artist.
