CrashCarBurn Get Political With New Single ‘Pay Back The Money’

Local rockers CrashCarBurn have always been light-hearted, fun and have always gone with the flow. Proving this, the band have just released a political new single called ‘Pay Back The Money’, after it was announced that President Jacob Zuma would not need to pay back any of the R246 million he spent on his private mansion, Nkandla. The band have paired up with famous cartoonist Zapiro for an awesome lyric video to the single featuring some of his cartoons featuring the scandal over the past two years. “We’ve never been a political band. We were the lucky generation that grew up in a South Africa that was full of hope and positivity. That hopeful spirit is quietly slipping,” lead singer Garth Barnes said. “To remain silent about the way our leaders are conducting themselves is an insult to those who fought for our freedoms. We must hold our leaders accountable for their actions. It’s not just about a house. It’s about a gap between rich and poor that is not closing. It’s about violent crime. It’s about corruption. Lack of access to healthcare and education. It’s about realising a dream to make this beautiful country everything we know it can be.” We’re glad bands like CrashCarBurn are standing up for not only their rights but the rights of all South Africans. Proud of you, boys!
