Since the very first season, Masterchef SA has been one of the best local shows we have ever had on television. After three successful seasons, M-Net decided to treat viewers with a celebrity edition of the show titled Celebrity Masterchef SA. The season saw musician Patricia Lewis, model Lerato Moloi, TV presenter Lorna Maseko, photographer Merwelene van der Merwe, comedian Tol A$$ Mo, actor Terence Bridgett, TV presenter Sade Giliberti, comedian Chris Forrest, TV presenter Lunga Shabalala and DJ Alex Jay battle it out for the crown and last night, Chris beat out Patricia in the show’s final challenge.
Chris won by a mere two points to runner-up Patricia Lewis after the two went head-to-head in two gruelling challenges. First, the two had to cook a seafood dish for eight of the show’s former contestants. The next challenge saw the contestants having to replicate a recipe for a saddle of lamb with a pistachio and dried apricot stuffing and a jus, accompanied by sweet potato dauphinoise and roasted cauliflower with breadcrumbs and pine nuts. After a tense judging process, Chris came out tops. In total, Chris earned R185 000 for his charity, Villa of Hope, plus a brand new VW Jetta 1.7 TSI for the charity, while Patricia won R175 000 for her charity Food and Trees for Africa. What a season, and we do think the best man won!
It was really great to catch a celebrity edition of the show and although some of the celebs were annoying AF and the challenges weren’t as tricky as a normal season, it made for great TV viewing. I’d like to say well done to M-Net and the team at Masterchef SA for a brilliant season! Now, bring on season four!
