Ever since Charlize Berg dropped her new album ‘As Jy Weet Dis Liefde’ late last year, I’ve been playing it on repeat. The album spawned two hit singles for the popstar – the Taylor Swift-inspired My Hart Myne and the emotional Braaf. Now, the singer has chosen the album’s title track as the third single off the record and it’s expected to become yet another smash for her.
What I really like about this single choice is that it sounds unlike the previous two singles. This time around, the song has a strong acoustic feel to it while blending elements of pop and country. The production is incredibly simple and allows Charlize’s vocals to become the strongest instrument on the song. The song writing here is something I’m also really impressed with. The song shows a vulnerable side of Charlize. She bares her soul through her vocals and the lyrics and when an artist is able to do that, magic happens.
Charlize has released an incredibly strong album and it’s placed her as a frontrunner in the race to be crowned South Africa’s greatest female Afrikaans pop star. The singer has just dropped the track’s official music video which compliments the song nicely. “The same team that worked with me on the Braaf video was back this time around. We work very well together. I felt like a real flower-child on set,” Charlize says. The song is available on iTunes now. Support local music by buying a copy today.
