As Calum Scott prepares to return to South Africa this week with his highly anticipated Avenoir Tour, the global hitmaker has unveiled a trio of local opening acts, adding further momentum to what is shaping up to be one of January’s most in-demand live music runs.
Scott’s South African dates kick off with a sold-out Cape Town show on 14 January, followed by performances in Durban on 16 January and Pretoria on 17 January, with only limited tickets remaining for the latter two cities. The tour marks Scott’s biggest visit to the country yet, and another chapter in his long-running relationship with South African audiences.
Now, ahead of his return, Scott has confirmed that each South African date will feature a homegrown artist opening the show, a move that highlights both the strength and diversity of the local music scene.
In Cape Town, pop newcomer Anica Kiana will open the sold-out show on 14 January. The rising artist has gained traction for her polished pop sound, confident vocal delivery and radio-friendly hooks, quickly establishing herself as one of the country’s most promising young pop talents.
Durban’s audience will be warmed up by Apple Gule, a singer-songwriter whose emotive vocals and soul-inflected pop have earned him a growing fanbase. Known for his introspective songwriting and intimate live performances, Gule has emerged as a name to watch within South Africa’s contemporary pop space.
Meanwhile, Pretoria’s opening slot will be filled by Easy Freak, the indie-pop duo celebrated for their genre-blending sound, infectious melodies and introspective lyricism. Their alternative edge and polished live set make them a natural fit ahead of Scott’s emotionally driven performance.
The South African dates form part of Scott’s expansive Avenoir Tour, a 48-city global run spanning Europe, Asia, North America, the UK and Africa. The tour supports his third studio album, Avenoir, released in October 2025 via Capitol Records, a project that signals a creative evolution, blending his signature ballads with groove-driven pop and more experimental textures.
“I remember my first time in South Africa, being blown away by the demand for tickets, and it made me feel so special,” Scott said in a statement. “Every time I’ve been back, I’ve felt the same love and excitement. Touring is my favourite part of my job, but touring in places like South Africa is just a dream come true.”
While Cape Town tickets are officially sold out, fans still have a final opportunity to secure seats for Durban and Pretoria, though availability is extremely limited. Tickets are available via Webtickets.
