The Voice star Blake Shelton and his co-coach Gwen Stefani have been trying to keep their newfound relationship under wraps, but the whole world can’t stop talking about the power couple. As singers and songwriters, the couple have taken to music as their source of therapy as they deal with major break-ups in their lives. Gwen Stefani has already dropped a track about her new romance with Blake called Make Me Like You, and now Blake takes to the spotlight with his brand new single, Came Here To Forget.
The country ballad is the first taste of his upcoming 12th studio album and it’s one of his most personal songs to date, which possibly reveals that Blake and Gwen fell in love after leaning on each other while they were going through their respective divorces. The song is once again proof that honest, heartfelt lyrics are the perfect ingredients of a good song. Blake’s country flavour is still loud and clear in the song and it’s produced smoothly and immaculately.
“I’ve had a lot of music over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life,” Blake said about the song. “That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song,” adding, “I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them. I have music.” The track makes us feel all the feels in the world and we’ve got a strong suspicion that we’ll be listening to this song a lot over the next few months.
