Every Sunday night, we sit anxiously by the TV and watch who will make it through to the next round of Idols South Africa. We’ve already got our favourites but Sunday nights also come with the dreaded part of the show where we have to bid one of the contestants farewell – and tonight, Amanda Antony got the cut.
The 22-year-old from Port Elizabeth, who has been dubbed as the ‘comeback kid,’ received the lowest amount of votes from the over 6,2 million votes cast between Sunday evening 11 October and Tuesday evening 13 October. “First I didn’t even make it to the Top 16, and then I made it all the way to Top 7!” Amanda joked after she had left the stage. “I’m just so grateful to have been part of this incredible show. It was an extraordinary experience that I will hold close to my heart for years to come.”
So what’s next for the music student? Well, her long-term musical goals include one day opening her own recording studios. How awesome is that? The competition, however, must go on and Mzansi has found themselves a Top 6. Question is, who will be leaving next week?
