This year’s Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards were as epic as always! John Cena hosted an incredibly slimy awards ceremony filled with celebrity guests as kids celebrated the best of everything they love in pop culture.
While this is a celebration of everything kids love these days, an award show is not complete without some live music. This year, Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello took the KCA stage to perform their platinum-selling number-one single, “Bad Things,” and Little Mix performed a medley of their hit singles, “Touch” and “Shout Out to My Ex”.
What’s a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award ceremony without a whole lot of slime? Naturally, the channel made sure that tons of green, oozy slime was on hand to slime not only some attendees but an array of celebrities as well. From Demi Lovato being slime-soaked by a Smurfy set piece; to Chris Pratt getting a surprise sliming in the Kids’ Choice control room; Kevin Hart getting doused with the coveted green goo after his triple win for Favorite Villain, Most Wanted Pet and BFFs; the Power Rangers (Becky G., Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, Dacre Montgomery) sliming the audience; and Cena receiving the ultimate green surprise while elevated above the stage at the end of the show.
Our very own Trevor Noah also walked away with an orange blimp as he won the Favourite African Star category. Receiving his award at the set of The Daily Show, Trevor said, “Nickelodeon! And the kids! Thank you so much for this amazing award, I am so honoured to be your Favourite African Star. Thank you so much for giving me this Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.” Peering inside his award, Noah continued, “Did you know that it’s a kaleidoscope? I didn’t know that, you can see things – oh look at that! I can see Africa. Oh-oh-oh… I wanna go home (fake sad facial expression). Thanks again everybody.”
